about
With experience in film, TV and theatre, Christopher Anson is a British actor with multi role performances across action, comedy, drama, documentary and period. Born and bred in North East Kent he moved to South Yorkshire in his early teens and at eighteen made his debut stage performance (last- minute understudy role as Porter in ‘Hotel Paradiso’) at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield where he'd got himself a job as a stage hand. His overriding passion however was music (plus a thing for mime) though on shelving dreams of becoming a rock star escaped England for Greece and spent his next five years living in Athens. With winter fast approaching he’d arrived there by ferryboat from Spetses and close to penniless state had only his tattered espadrilles to keep his feet dry and warm. In desperate need of drachma he landed a job in advertising which got him a penthouse in Kolonaki and come springtime some very fine linen suits. It also got him a free seat at Lycabettus Theatre to watch Peter Hall Company's touring production of Hamlet at which he sat captivated by Stephen Dillane's performance as the Prince. So much so that he just had to (just had to!) somehow get himself into acting. Five winters hence he flew out of Athens and landed in a chilly - 21 °C Toronto very pleased not be wearing espadrilles. And it was there in ‘Hollywood North’ that his desire to act was made possible, getting him his first credited roles in TV and feature film and soon working with lead name actors and award winning directors. But good things never last and a need for secure income/financial stability - he now being a husband and father - coupled with an undiminished wanderlust next took him to live in Singapore. There followed more countries and more travel, a rather long period working in advertising, an enjoyable hiatus in Greece, a less enjoyable return to UK and a most a joyous return to acting. Outside of which he is a keen runner and cyclist, likes to picture frame, paint and strum his guitar plus dream up and write short stories and screenplays.
